The Benton High freshmen had to drive 65 yards in the last 40 seconds to pull a 29-28 victory over previously unbeaten North DeSoto out of the fire here Tuesday.
Brandon Adams scored his third touchdown of the game on a 30-yard pass from Chance Nerren with no time remaining on the scoreboard clock as the Benton freshmen finished their season with a 7-1 record, losing only to Capt. Shreve.
Adams also scored on runs of 18 and 60 yards. Taylor Ashton scored the other touchdown on a six-yard sweep around left end, and also ran for two two-point conversions.
North DeSoto had a 16-8 lead at halftime. Defensive standouts for Benton were free safety Lakelton Collins and Adams, who intercepted a pass.
