Benton High opened District 1-3A baseball play Tuesday with a 15-0 victory over Fair Park as freshman Jeri Wilson wasted only two pitches in a three-inning no-hitter. Wilson threw 29 pitches -- 27 strikes and two balls -- as she struck out all nine batters she faced. Fair Park, with only nine players, not only didn’t have a hit or walk, but didn’t have a foul tip.Sophomore Ashley Jordan hit a three-run home run over the center field fence for Benton, which took a 6-7-1 season record to Stonewall Thursday for a district game with North DeSoto.
