SUPPORT BHS AS YOU SHOP AT TARGET! Take Charge of Education, launched in April 1997, brings the Target tradition of giving to the heart of our communities. Since the program was launched, Target has donated over $154 million through fundraising dollars, including more than $14.7 million during the recent September 2005 donation. Through the Take Charge of Education program, Target donates an amount equal to 1% of REDcard(SM) (Target Visa and Target Card) purchases made at Target and Target.com, and 1/2% of Target Visa purchases made elsewhere, to the eligible K-12 school of your choice.* For some schools, that’s over $10,000 a year.
Schools have used these unrestricted funds for everything from student recognition programs and new playground equipment to library books and school musical costumes. - More than 9 million Target cardholders and 106,000 schools participate in the program.
- Target donates money to eligible K-12 schools twice a year – in March and September.
- Donations are available to any K-12 public, private or parochial school that has a 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1) tax- exempt status. See Take Charge of Education program rules for more information.
Want to see how much your school’s next Take Charge of Education donation will be, or want to designate a school for donation? *Subject to Take Charge of Education program rules. REDcard: Target Visa and Target Card are credit cards issued by Target National Bank, an affiliate of Target Stores. Subject to credit approval.
