BHS AP Program on the rise
ImageEngineering Club members from Benton High plan to attend the Louisiana Tech Engineering and Science Day on March 27 at LA Tech in Ruston.  The event will include several learning activities including a design competition. Members also continue to work on the Engineering Club Robot.  The “bot” now has drive electronics and IR Proximity Detectors (sensors).  The group is currently working on programming the “bot” to use the sensors to navigate the school hallways..

They are also working on a chassis redesign to accommodate additional sensors and improve the drive system.  In addition, Engineering Club members are beginning to study and experiment with game programming.  The students are studying  basic game programs written in a version of the BASIC programming language, which is the same language being used to program the robot.  Benton High students look forward to seeing the “bot” in the hallways soon! The Engineering Club is sponsored by math teacher Marvin Nelson
