Louisiana Tech University held the annual Color Guard, Drill, and Physical Fitness competition last week.   Twenty-six teams representing more than 15 schools from a four state area competed.  Benton High School AFJROTC entered both a color guard and a physical fitness team.  The color guard team was composed of cadets Cornelius Blackmon, Clinton Camp, Melissa Knowles, and John Porter.  The Benton Color Guard finished in third place.  The Physical Fitness team was composed of Kelvin Brown, Russell Bull, John Glasgow, Al Little, Matt Powell, Daniel Salazar, and Matt Taylor.  The next major competition for the Color Guard and Physical Fitness teams will be at Leesville, Louisiana on February 25, 2006.  They will also compete at the Baytown Regional meet in March at Baytown, Texas outside of Houston.  ROTC Teachers/Sponsors are MSgt Timothy Martin and MSgt Dave Milner.

 

Benton High’s ROTC Color Guard also completed a Flag presentation at the Military Officers Association of America, February 4, 2006 at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.  The BentonHigh School Color Guard is often invited to present the colors and open ceremonies around the state.
