Benton High School SACS Accreditation Self-Study Report

SUMMARY OF STRENTHS AND SUPPORTING EVIDENCE

 

Our school aligns its instructional strategies and learning activities with the standards and expectations for student learning.

 

Data:

  • Pacing guides detail what students should learn in each subject.
  • Pacing guides are aligned with Louisiana Benchmarks and Standards and Grade Level Expectations.
  • Effective classroom management organizational strategies which enable maximized engagement in learning are employed in every classroom. Parishwide lesson plans support these strategies with the following:
    • First Five
    • Word Wall
    • Closure activities
    • Variety of teaching strategies throughout the period (at least three)

 

Rationale:

  • Pacing guides allow for long-term planning and allow teachers to outline topicby- topic what students should be learning.
  • Alignment with state benchmarks and standards and grade level expectations presents the opportunity for students to be prepared for the Graduation Exit Exam.
  • A variety of teaching strategies, good classroom management and organizational strategies help students understand and promote an environment conducive to learning.
