Priorities for Improving School Performance |

Page 1 of 7 The mission of Benton High School is to prepare all students for life-long success. While we have generally been successful in accomplishing this mission, we will always continue to pursue excellence.
In order to determine the priorities for improving school performance, the School Performance Committee reviewed the findings of the School Profile Committee, the findings of the Beliefs and Mission Committee and the findings of the Priorities for Improving Student Learning Committee. After reviewing these findings, the Priorities for Improving School Performance Committee felt that it needed more information; therefore, the committee devised a self-generated Survey of Instructional and Organizational Effectiveness (based on the principles of instructional and organizational effectiveness found on pages 30-32 of the Louisiana School Improvement Process Handbook, Fourth Edition 2003). The self-generated survey was administered to 100 percent of the teachers with 100 percent responding. The survey was scored and analyzed by the School Performance Committee. From this survey, the committee was able to identify specific strengths and limitations in certain areas of instruction and organization. Our strengths include curriculum and leadership. Two areas that are being targeted for improvement are assessment and community building. We feel that communication with parents is an important aspect of community building as outlined in Principle #10 (Organizational Effectiveness) of the Louisiana School Improvement Process Handbook, Fourth Edition 2003. Principle#10 will be used as a basis for writing Goal #1 in our Action Plan. Overall, opinions among teachers, administrators, parents, and students are in distinct agreement on the issues and concerns that reflect the school’s strengths and limitations.
