Benton has offered an AP course in English for the past three years. The class has averaged 15-20 students enrolled each year. This year 17 students are enrolled in the course, and all will take the AP exam. (Beginning in the 2002-2003 school year the district paid the fee for all students enrolled in Advanced Placement classes to take the exam.) In the spring of 2004, 38 percent of the AP English students scored a 3 or above, thus qualifying them to receive three hours credit in college English. Additionally, this year we are offering an AP course in calculus. We currently have 20 students enrolled and all of them are planning to take the AP exam.
