The ACT assessment is a tool designed to assess students’ overall educational ability and their ability to complete college-level work. The test covers the following four subjects: English, math, reading and science. The data that we have collected includes the average composite score on the ACT. On the school level, our composite score increased 1.2 points from 2000 to 2001, and since 2001, our scores have been consistent. On the state level, our composite scores since 2001 have been higher than the state’s averages, but about one point lower than the national averages (p.3-33). Math scores have increased each year since 2000 while scores in English, reading, and science increased from 2000 to 2001 and have fluctuated only slightly from year to year since 2001.
