Benton High School SACS Accreditation Self-Study Report
Benton High School went through the Southern Association of College and Schools Accreditations (SACS) during the 2004-2005 school year. At the completion of the process the school was observed by the SACS Peer Review Team which gave full accredidation Benton High School. The following report was created and complied by Benton High Teachers, Administrators, and Staff for the accreditation process. Page 12 of 14 The faculty at Benton High School includes forty-five certified personnel (p. 3- 45…3-47). The faculty is composed of thirty-six regular education teachers along with three special education teachers, two guidance counselors, one librarian, a principal, and two assistant principals. Support staff (p. 3-47) includes a bookkeeper, registrar, office manager/attendance clerk, GASP (Guided Alternative to Suspension Program) attendant, library clerical assistant, and five paraeducators. A School Resource Officer (SRO) is also assigned to the Benton High campus to assist the administration, faculty, and students. The SRO is in charge of the Strategic Emergency Plan, which guides administrators and teachers in responding to emergency situations within the school complex. The Benton faculty has an average of 12.8 years of teaching experience, and fortysix percent hold advanced degrees. Significantly, ninety-two percent of the faculty is classified as “highly qualified” by state criteria. In addition, our librarian has National Board Certification.
