The Benton High School Debate Team, under the direction of teacher Don Belanger, hosted a Debate Tournament this past week.  Ten schools participated in the event.  Airline High School won the Sweepstakes with 105 total points.  The Caddo Magnet Debate Team won Senior Debate, Caddo Middle Magnet’s Team won Novice Debate, and Captain Shreve’s entry won the Lincoln-Douglas Debate event.  Senior Extemporaneous Speaking and Oral Interpretation events were won by Ruston High School  students. Junior Extemporaneous Speaking was won by Captain Shreve. As hosts, Benton students were not allowed to compete in the events.
