ImageA reception was held in the Library for Stewart Thompson, math teacher and Teacher of the Year for Benton High School.  Mr. Thompson was also selected as Bossier Parish Teacher of the Year, and Regional Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Thompson’s family attended to help him celebrate: Tim and Kay Thompson (father and stepmother); Lynette Thompson (mother); Faye Spigener and Lois Thompson (grandmothers); Matt Thompson (brother); and Kelle Head (stepsister). Scott Smith, Benton High principal, spoke highly of Mr. Thompson’s accomplishments with the Teacher of the Year program and his accomplishments at Benton High School (which include creation and maintenance of the school’s web site) and presented him with a gift from the school.  Special guests who also offered their individual comments and congratulations included School Board Member Col. George Finck, School Superintendent Ken Kruithof, Assistant Superintendents D. C. Machen and Sally Namie, Director of Curriculum Pam Haley, and Math Coordinator Ann Allred.
