Our hearts are quite heavy as we see and hear about the devastation caused by Katrina. Please remember those who have lost homes, jobs, and family members due to this terrible storm. Please remember those in our community who are providing assistance in ways more numerous than I can count. I know those in law enforcement and the National Guard are actively involved in rescue operations, so please remember these dedicated public servants and their families.
This ordeal will not end quickly, and we may not know the total impact this tragedy will ultimately have on our state and country, but I have faith in God and our citizens. I am so thankful for the response our schools have had in this situation, and the overwhelming outpouring of assistance for those in need. Thank you for allowing displaced students to attend your schools and all the things you have done to give them a semblance of normalcy. I am honored to be part of the Bossier Parish school family.
