Benton High School English teachers are looking for some good writers to compete in The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4588’s “Voice of Democracy” Scholarship Competition. All high school students in Bossier Parish have the opportunity to compete in the audio essay contest to be eligible to win scholarships, a trip to Washington D.C., as well as other awards.  Students compete by writing and then recording a three-to-five- minute audio essay expressing their views of this year’s patriotic theme “How I Demonstrate My Freedom.”  Interested students should contact their Benton English teachers or the VFW Post 4588 Voice of Democracy Chairman, Tillman Johnson, at 949-2958 or the Ladies Auxiliary Chairperson, Carol Briggs, at 746-7305. Students may also write to the VFW Post 4588, 1004 Jeter Street, Bossier City, LA, 71111, for more information.
