Flattmann wins cross country title; Girls state runner-up |

As they have done in the last few years, Parkway's Matt Wolfe and Benton's Kaitlin Flattmann were tops in their respective classes at the state cross country meet here Tuesday. Wolfe and Flattmann gave Bossier Parish a sweep of the individual Class 4A state championships as they claimed the boys and girls titles. Wolfe paced the 4A boys with a time of 15:36, 12 seconds ahead of runner-up Mitchell Landry of Haughton. Flattmann's time of 19:00 gave her a 22-second victory over Alexandria's Karensa Ellis. Behind Flattmann's performance, the Benton girls finished one point behind Baton Rouge St. Michael in the final standings, 73-72. The Parkway girls team did not have an individual runner finish in the top 10, but finished fourth with 115 points. On the boys side, Benton's top-10 duo of Shane Hershberger (5th place) and Taylor Ashton (8th place) helped propel the Tigers to a fourth-place finish, one point ahead of Wolfe's Panthers.
