Like most high school football coaches, Benton High’s Mitch Downey doesn’t pay much attention to individual statistics. When I asked him about the Benton High record for career rushing yardage, he thought Bo Wheatley held it. Wheatley held the Bossier Parish record for four years with 3,418 yards in a career ending in 1994. But Airline’s David Jett broke the parish record in 1998 with 3,946 yards and Demond Wheatley, one of Bo’s younger brothers, broke the school record with 3,822 yards in 2004. Going into the playoffs, Casey Henderson is within striking distance of the school record. He has 3,651 yards going into Friday night’s playoff opener with Minden at Benton. Read the full article...
