A career night by Benton's Brandon Adams was more than enough for the No. 3-ranked Tigers as he ignited his teammates to a 49-20 District 1-4A victory at Tiger Stadium Friday night.

Adams ran for 228 yards and four touchdowns as Benton (7-0, 5-0) remained unbeaten and among the elite in Class 4A. Three of Adams' touchdowns came in the first half when Minden (3-5, 1-4) remained in contention.

"They (Minden) were keying on Casey (Henderson) so Brandon hurt them early," Benton coach Mitch Downey said. "Brandon has a lot of ability, too. The offensive line did a good job."

While Adams appeared to break long runs on every carry in the first half, Henderson wasn't exactly stopped. The 5-foot-10, 230-pounder still managed 143 bruising yards on 17 carries.

Minden appeared to seize the momentum late in the second quarter when quarterback T.Q. Mims found Jarome Walton with a 4-yard touchdown pass. That came with just 20 seconds left in the half and cut Benton's advantage to 21-12.

However, Cameron McKoy had other ideas for Benton.
