The Special Education Department offers resource services and instructional programs for students with the following special needs:
Auditory, visual, physical or health impairments
Learning disabilities
Deficits in intellectual development and mental capacity
Affective disorders or adaptive behavior which restricts effective functioning

Students are scheduled into these programs and services only as a result of case study evaluations, multidisciplinary conferences, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings. Student scheduling is authorized by the student's guidance counselor with the special education lead teacher,

The Special Education Department also offers services for physically challenged students and students with visual impairments, as well as home/hospital instruction for students with health impairments which preclude their ability to attend school for extended periods of time. The department also offers counseling, psychological and psychiatric services, and other services designed to meet the unique needs of disabled students who qualify for specialized education services.
