The third-ranked Benton Tigers did what they needed Thursday in a Wing-T battle against outmanned Bossier. The Tigers received 157 rushing yards from bruising fullback Casey Henderson, two interceptions — one for a score — from sophomore defensive back T.K. Fleming and a pair of scores from quarterback Mark Harrington in a 35-0 victory over Bossier. "We want to play well. We want to execute well. For the most part we did that," Benton head coach Mitch Downey said. "We had a couple spurts where we didn't do a good job pre-snap. We're getting better, but we're running out of time." Downey's Tigers (5-0, 3-0 District 1-4A) are now in the thick of district play and will face Northwood next Thursday. Bossier was game in defeat, dressing roughly 30 players. "We're not looking for excuses," Bossier head coach Mike Concilio said. "The numbers; that's what we got. That's the kids we have. Our 30 kids we had dressed tonight, and the eight kids we had out injured —we consider ourselves a family." |
