Benton coach Mitch Downey moved cornerback Brandon Adams to the offensive backfield this season.

That change proved very beneficial Friday.

The junior halfback had three rushing touchdowns and another touchdown receiving all in the first half on the way to Benton's 55-14 romp of Springhill at Baucum-Farrar Stadium. Adams finished with 151 rushing yards on eight carries and added 18 yards receiving.

Understandingly, Adams, a first-year starter on offense, was all smiles after the game.

"I haven't scored this many touchdowns since middle school," he said. "We focused more this week on offense at practice. We were working hard all week and we're just clicking."

The Tigers (2-0) stormed out to a 47-14 halftime lead after scoring on all seven offensive drives in the first half. Benton amassed 212 of its 345 rushing yards in the first half. Adams scored touchdowns of 22 and 29 yards to give Benton a 14-7 lead less than four minutes into the game. Adam's longest touchdown was a 40-yard run at the end of the first quarter.
