Benton and Haughton freshmen scored season-opening football victories Monday. Trailing 8-6 at halftime, the Benton freshmen scored 23 unanswered points in the second half for a 29-8 victory over the Parkway freshmen at Parkway. The Haughton freshmen rolled past Bossier High 28-0. It was close, but no cigar for the Airline freshmen, who dropped a 6-0 decision to Byrd. Diquan Collins was a two-way standout for Bossier. Tackles Denzel Jones and C.J. Modica were defensive standouts. D.A. Green scored Benton’s only first-half touchdown on an eight-yard run. Mack Howard put the Benton freshmen ahead to stay in the second half with a 33-yard interception return, as Green ran for a two-point conversion. Chris McGuire threw a 25-yard pass to Green for another touchdown, and Howard added the two-pointer.
