This will not be good news to the rest of Class 4A, but Benton's Kaitlin Flattman says she is getting faster.

Flattman has already won a state cross country championship this year as a freshman. She will look to add some state championship hardware next month.

She won District 1-4A championships in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs on Thursday.

"I'm getting faster," she said. "That's what I'm trying to do, just getting faster, just getting better."

Flattman's 5:18.3 time in the 1,600 meters is her best time in the event this spring. She also had her best time in the 800 at 2:29.6. And in the 3,200, she had a time of 11.37, just off her best time of 11:23.11.

Flattman's Benton team finished second in the girls division. Parkway won the District 1-4A girls title with 143 points. Benton and Haughton tied for second at 122 points.

In the boys division, Benton reclaimed the district title with 144 points. Parkway was second with 115 points and Haughton was third with 76 points.
