As a Comeaux High wrestler, the Ken Cole Invitational is something special.
So much so that while two-time state champion David Bonin is a bit nostalgic about his final opportunity to claim gold at the Ken Cole, he knows it's not a total end to his association with the tournament.
He was here before his freshman year, and he'll likely be here long after wrapping up his senior season.
For Comeaux wrestlers, it's more like a way of life than a simple tournament.
"I grew up around this tournament," Bonin said. "There are still a lot of guys who wrestled at Comeaux still around. We've got guys who graduated two years ago and guys who graduated eight years ago still around. They're still part of this team."
If all goes as planned, Bonin will be wrestling in college far away from Lafayette over the next four years — but he'll likely return to the Ken Cole in the future.
