Cross Country records top-10 finishers at LSU Invitational |

 Benton freshman Kaitlin Flattman finished second overall at the LSU Cross Country Invitational. (ShreveportTimes.com) The Benton Tigers and Lady Tigers cross country teams both logged top-10 finishes at the LSU Cross Country Invitational in Baton Rouge on Saturday.
Coach Frank Trammel's teams finished fifth (out of 20 teams) in the girls division and seventh (out of 21 teams) in the boys division.
Benton freshman Kaitlin Flattman finished second overall in a field of 200 athletes, just behind Mali Cali of St. Thomas Acquinas. Benton's Julia Russell was 15th. Other Benton finishers include Cassy Rains (24th), Britlin Sparto (36th), Ashley Hughes (47th), Ashley Edmonston (48th) and Kirsten Kerry (98th).
On the boys side, Benton had a pair of top-20 finishers.
Shane Harshberger finished 17th and Trey Elliott was 18th.
Other Benton athletes placing in the meet were Taylor Ashton (58th), Dean Little (62nd), Jacob Simon (93rd), Joseh Huck (119th) and Rockey Downey (120th).
The boys meet had more than 210 competitors. Class 5A Jesuit won the overall boy's competition. |
