Originally, the mission of the SADD chapter was to help young people say "No" to drinking and driving. Today, the mission has expanded. Students have told us that positive peer pressure, role models and other strategies can help them say "No" to more than drinking and driving. And that is why SADD has become a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving, teen violence and teen depression and suicide.
SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) members at Benton High have been involved in a number of activities for “Red Ribbon Week”, to focus students’ attention on making the right decision when it comes to drinking or drugs. Members distributed red ribbons for all students to wear, and contests were held to award prizes to random students who wore their ribbons all week. Students decorated their homeroom doors with positive messages. The doors were judged by a team of SADD members and teachers and the Homeroom with the winning door won a doughnut and juice breakfast for the class. The SADD organization conducts several “awareness” programs such as Red Ribbon Week during the year to remind students of the impact of their decisions on their lives.
The group is sponsored by teacher Selitha Turner. Officers for the SADD group include:
President: Stacey King
Co-President: Crystal Pierce
Vice President: Heather Dauphin
Secretary: Sheika Player
Treasurer: Nekedra Ford
Historian: Nicole Nezat
Sr. Class Rep: Kim Goodwin
Jr. Class Rep: Nicole Nezat
Soph. Class Rep: Kashondria Brown

SADD's mission simply stated is:
To provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions.
