The home field advantage in the District 1-3A softball race shifted from Benton to North DeSoto Wednesday after the Lady Griffins scored an 8-2 victory over the defending champion Lady Tigers. Benton could have virtually clinched the championship with a victory, but the teams are now tied with another game scheduled next Thursday at Stonewall, where North DeSoto has lost only one game (4-2, to Lakeside) this season.

A two-run homer in the first inning by Beth Gasper and a tghree-run homer in the fourth inning by Meagan Pearson highlighted North DeSoto’s 11-hit attack.

Laura Sattler hit a double, but Benton had only three other hits, all singles, off Lady Griffin pitcher Courtney McDaniel. It was North DeSoto’s first win over Benton in five games in the last two seasons.
