Benton High Art students won several honors when they attended the YACA (Youth Art Council of America) Convention 2007 at the Clarion Hotel in Shreveport March 1-3. Maggie Boggs won a 3rd place ribbon in the Colored Drawing Division; Elise Randall won a 2nd place ribbon in the Computer Design Division; and the Benton Art Group won several Performance awards: 1st place ribbon for Most Creative Interpretation; 2nd place ribbon for Most Humorous; and 1st place ribbon for the Most Creative Table Decoration.  In addition, Benton student Cassy Rains was elected Vice-President of the state organization for 2007-08.  Benton students who attended were: Maggie Boggs, Amanda Jamroz, Cassy Rains, Kayla McBryde, Elise Randall, Kari McKee, Baygent Estes, Sierra Irwin, Breauna Black, Meghan Penwell, Jennifer Lupton, Caleb Jones and Stephen Dungan. Benton’s Art students competed with 280 students from 20 Louisiana schools. Theresa Laws, Benton Art teacher, sponsors the group.
