Seniors can apply for the Horatio Alger Scholarship on line at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.  The applicants must be students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society.  For more info see Mr. Feaster.
 
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Print E-mail

This program, which is federally funded and state-administered, is designed to recognize exceptionally able high school seniors who show promise of continued excellence in postsecondary education. The Department awards funds to state education agencies (SEAs), which make scholarship awards to eligible applicants. Students receive scholarships for college expenses.

Counselor Gary Feaster also has information on a wide array of scholarships and financial aid programs for students. Seniors who plan to major in Forestry, Wildlife, or Marine Science can apply for the Rockefeller State Wildlife Scholarship.  Scholarship applications are available for senior boys who are planning to attend LSU Baton Rouge. Seniors with a 2.5+ GPA who plan to attend a college or university in Louisiana can apply for the Benton Rotary Club Scholarship.  Students should see Gary Feaster for applications and forms.
 
Cloteal Monroe Annual Student Scholarship Print E-mail

The Cloteal Monroe Annual Student Scholarship (C-MASS) application is available to seniors with a 3.0 gpa and above.  Two students from Bossier Parish Schools will receive this scholarship which is based mainly on academic achievement and financial need.  For more information and applications see Mr. Feaster.

BATON ROUGE -- Two hurricanes and a subsequent $1 billion hole in Louisiana's budget may have put one of the most popular state programs in jeopardy. Tuition Opportunity Program for Students is among areas spared when Gov. Kathleen Blanco rolled out her plans to slash state spending Saturday. And lawmakers and state education officials have little doubt that the state-paid college tuition plan for Louisiana high school graduates will survive in some form.

The program is open to all high school seniors in the United States from 23,000 high schools. Coca-Cola Scholars come from all 50 states and more than one-third are minorities.
