Benton’s Tiger Band member Luke Ellard made first chair Clarinet in the District VIII Wind Ensemble and Jennifer Lupton made second chair Oboe. Both are now eligible to try out for the Louisiana All State Band in Pineville. If they make the All State Band, they will perform in a concert the weekend before Thanksgiving. There is another tryout on December 9 for the District Symphonic Band. Both the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band will have a concert with guest conductors on January19, 2007. The Benton Band Director is Ted Beagley. |

Band Boosters to sell funnel cakes at Revel |

The Benton High School Band Boosters will once again man the funnel cake booths at this year’s Red River Revel. Opening day is Saturday, October 7th. Please come support your Benton Tiger Band in its annual fund raiser…and enjoy some delicious funnel cakes too. The Revel is held in Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport and will run through Saturday, October 14th. See what's on the menu here.

The Benton High School Tiger Marching Band also attended Band Camp to practice playing, marching and sight reading for upcoming events and competitions. Luke Ellard attended a special Honor Band Camp at Northwestern University. The Band plays at almost every Benton High event, and is under the direction of teacher Ted Beagley. |

Flag Line chosen for 06/07 |

The Benton Flag Line ladies have also been chosen for 2006-2007. This group performs at Benton sports events and in various competitions. The new Flag Line includes Leslie Waldrop (Captain), Becca Metcalf (Lieutenant), Stefani Woodrum (Auxiliary Manager), Julie Searing (Dance Manager), Holly Sandefur, Crystal Odell, Kody McGuire, Christie Jones, Sarah Jones, and Samantha Jernigan. The group will compete in the Winter Guard competition in the Fall, at which Jennifer Belmonte, Danielle Arrindale, and Lindsey Walls will join the group. This group is sponsored by Benton High Band Director Ted Beagley and Benton Middle School Director Anne Nelson. |

BHS Flagline to perform at WinterGuard International |

The BHS Flagline will perform in the WinterGuard International Power Nationals event in Dallas on March 11, 2006. Winter guard members are MaQueta Pipkin, Christie Jones, Becca Metcalf, Holli Sandifer, Leslie Waldrop, Samantha Jernigan, Sarah Caudle, Julie Searing and Stefani Woodrum. The WGI event will be the first time that the Benton High School Flag Line has competed in a Winter Guard competition. The members will perform using sabers, flags and rifles.
