Choir and Jazz Combo entertain packed house

Benton’s Choir and Jazz Combo held a concert recently to a packed crowd in the BHS Band Room.  The members of the Choir and Jazz Combo received a standing ovation at the end of their performance.  These groups, plus the full BHS Band, are now preparing for their Christmas Concert, which will be held December 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts (new) Gym. The Band, Combo and Choir are under the direction of Ted Beagley.
 
BHS band performs well at festival

The Benton High School Fighting Tiger Marching Band competed in the Marching Band Festival on October 28 which was held at Parkway High and received Excellent ratings. The Benton High Choir and Jazz Combo will give a Fall Concert Thursday, November 20, at 7:00 pm in the BHS Band room. The Band’s Christmas Concert will be held December 18 in the gymnasium. The BHS Band, Jazz Combo, and Choir are under the direction of Ted Beagley.
 
Benton High junior Stacy Ballard spends summer with Boston Crusaders

This summer was a very busy one for Stacey Ballard. He left Benton on May 24 and returned on August 10. He did not have a weekend off or even a day off. He traveled, by charter bus, over 14,000 miles. He worked every day outdoors, rain, or shine. He ate prepared food off of a food trailer four times a day. No, Stacey did not join the military- he marched in a drum corp. Actually, in the Boston Crusaders Drum Corps from Boston Mass. He was an elite member of Drum Corps International (DCI), in the World Class Division. Read more...

District Honor Band members

Six members of the BHS Fighting Tiger Marching Band were selected for the Louisiana District Honor Band, including: Crystal Odell, Flute; Susan Arrindell, Clarinet; Julie Wolf, Conta-Alto Clarinet; Jennifer Belmonte, Trumpet; Josh Waldrop, Horn; and Rictoria Saxton, Percussion.  Congratulations to these students for their outstanding musical work.
 
Tiger Band receives Superior ratings

Congratulations to the Benton Tiger Marching Band for their Superior rating in concert performance and sight reading at the District 8 Choir and Band Festival.  The Superior rating qualified them for the State Music Festivals.  The Tiger Band is the only group in the state of Louisiana that qualified for both Choir and Band Festivals.
