The Class of 2008 Ring Ding picture video will be on sale this week for $10 from Mrs. Winham. The videos will also be on sale Friday night for the same price. This year the DVD will only contain the picture video shown at the Ring Ceremony Friday Night. The first 40 orders will receive their copy Friday night before they leave the ceremony. Any additional orders will be delivered to the students next week. |

Since 1999, Anna Whittington has logged more than 1,500 hours volunteering at Cypress Nature Study Center. Those hours are even more impressive when you realize the Benton High School senior began logging them before she could even drive a car. For her senior community service project, Whittington created a birding brochure that will be used to help draw birders to the nature center. She has also worked on a birding station to complement the brochure. Read more... |

Benton High will once again participate in the 23rd annual Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s ARTBREAK. ARTBREAK is a family festival showcasing the arts in educational programming in Bossier and Caddo Parish schools. Anna Whittington doesn't let too many flies land on her stirrup. She doesn't have time to fool with them. Named Louisiana's Youth Conservationist of the Year recently by the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, the Benton High School senior spends many of her waking hours volunteering at the Cypress Nature Study Center, competing in rodeos, hunting, fishing or planting trees on her family's vast acreage in Bossier and Sabine parishes. Then Benton High School Superlatives have been chosen. This week all BHS students voted on several superlative categories including Mr. and Miss BHS, Friendliest, Most Athletics, Most Spirited, and Class Favorites. Twenty-seven girls competed in the Miss Shere Khan pageant. Sierra Smith was selected as Miss Shere Khan. The first runner-up was Brittany Bienvenu; second runner-up was Haley Wilson; third runner-up was Gabrielle Jenkins; and fourth runner-up was Christa McCann. |

Last Friday, October 20, three of our neighboring high school students, Emily Perdue, 16, Molly Reed, 15, and Katy Watkins, 16, were tragically killed in a car accident on their way to a football game in Natchitoches. Many of our students, faculty and staff were greatly impacted by these girls, and deeply sadden by their death. |

On Saturday, 1,200 people gathered to celebrate the hard work of students and schools with a Walk for Education sponsored by the Alliance for Education. Students raised money for various school projects. Half of the money earned stays at the school to fund those projects. The Alliance gave cash prizes to schools and students that raised the most money. |

Homecoming week always brings excitement and many events. Each day student will once again be allowed to show their Tiger Spirit by participation in the daily dress-up. Everyone is also invited to the second annual Tiger Rally Thursday night at 6:30 PM in Tiger Stadium. Tickets for the rally will be $2 to enter, or $6 to enter plus Podnuh's Bar-B-Q. The Benton High School 2006 Homecoming Dance will be held at the Holiday Inn in Bossier City on Saturday, October 21 from 7:30 until 11:00 P.M. Tickets are required and will be on sale in room C2 (McCullough) from Monday, October 2 until Wednesday, October 11. The cost is $15 a ticket.
