Superintendent's November Message

Our school year is moving rapidly even though we have experienced some unusual events as a result of Katrina and Rita. Our entire state has been affected and the recovery may take a great deal of time. I cannot thank our Board, staff, school administrators, teachers, support staff, bus drivers, parents and our students for all they have done to assist our displaced students, teachers and their families. You have done a terrific job and I’m so proud of each of you.

I am so thankful that for the most part, we were spared the projected damage of Hurricane Rita. I trust that damage to your homes and businesses was kept to a minimum and repairs can be made quickly. Principals and center directors, please convey our appreciation to your staffs for the preparations made in anticipation of the storm.

School System Responds to Hurricane Katrina

Our hearts are quite heavy as we see and hear about the devastation caused by Katrina. Please remember those who have lost homes, jobs, and family members due to this terrible storm. Please remember those in our community who are providing assistance in ways more numerous than I can count. I know those in law enforcement and the National Guard are actively involved in rescue operations, so please remember these dedicated public servants and their families.

Bossier School Buses Help in Relief Effort

School buses have left Bossier Parish to help evacuate people from New Orleans at the request of Governor Kathleen Blanco. The school system is also sending a truck with supplies to maintain the buses and 12 security officers. Schools will attempt to contact parents of students whose bus transportation may be affected. Call the district's transportation department at 549-5000 for more information.
