Benton students Jamie Britt, Alex Little, Al Little, Robbie McKenzie, Carla McNeil, and Lara McNeil participated in the Bossier-Caddo Parish “World of Work” event last week. Benton High ROTC members, Benton Cheerleaders, and members of the Benton High School Chapter of the National Honor Society also participated as volunteers in the education/community project.  The project, which was held at the Bossier Civic Center, provided all types of work related opportunities for the participating students, while the volunteers assisted in the work booths set up at the Center. Tiger Tales XIII - Spring 06

A new list of State Literary Rally qualifiers has been published and nine Benton High students qualified in a variety of subjects:  David Watters, Accounting I; Shannon McGill, Algebra II; Justin Price, Biology I; Janee Greer, Chemistry; Britnie Mahoney, Family-Consumer Sciences I; Wesley Adams, English I; Alexander Parmater, English III; Taylor Cage, Physical Science; and Rachel Stevick, Spanish II.  Congratulations to all of these Benton High brains and good luck at the State Rally!  The Literary Rally students are sponsored by teacher Marlene Aversa.

Tiger Tales XII - Spring 06

Fifty-three new members were initiated into the Benton High School Chapter of the National Honor Society, one of the most prestigious organizations on campus.  Students qualify for NHS through their character, scholarship, leadership and service.  In the candlelight ceremony presented by Senior NHS members Erica Hudson, Nicole Nezat  and Steven Susla, initiates pledged their energy and loyalty to the principles of the National Honor Society.

Eight Benton High students qualified at the NSU District Literary Rally: Thomas Teakell in Algebra I; Jennifer Bolton in Introduction to Computer Applications; Janee Greer in Chemistry; Tasha Yates in English IV; Natalie Georgia in Free Enterprise; Garrett West in Journalism I; Garth Jeter in Physical Science; and Max Mason in Spanish II.  Congratulations to these qualifiers and good luck at the State Literary Rally which will be held on April 22.  Congratulations also to every Benton High student who participated in the Literary Rally.  Teacher Marlene Aversa sponsors all of the Benton students who participate in the Rally.

Tiger Tales X - Spring 06

Cassie Emerson, Benton High Senior, is the LRCA Breakaway State Champion.  She was awarded the Championship last weekend after competing in the three “go-rounds” at the LRCA State Finals. In order to earn this amateur title, Cassie has worked for an entire year in Rodeo Breakaway events across the state, competing against contestants from Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. Cassie is the youngest person who competes in the Breakaway category.

Tiger Tales IX - Spring 06

Kaitlin Alison placed 2nd in Environmental Science and Daniel Maddry and Bobby Gragston placed 3rd in Team Competition at the Regional Science Fair held last week at the Bossier Civic Center.  Benton High is proud of everyone who participated in the event.  Congratulations to these Science Fair winners!  Benton’s Science students were sponsored by teacher Linda Starnes.
