Benton puts 10 on All-District Football Team
Tuesday, 02 December 2008
Benton High’s District 1-4A champions, ranked No. 3 in the state by the Louisiana Sports Writers’ Association, have 10 first-team selections on the All-District team picked by 1-4A football coaches. Offensive players on the first team are running backs Casey Henderson and Brandon Adams, guard Alex Brown, tackle Ricky Rowles and kicker Jeffery Thomisee. Defensive players are defensive lineman Lucas Burk, linebackers Delanie Hall and Josh Player, defensive back Cameron McKoy and kick returner Emmitt Stephens. Henderson, an All-Stater last year, is Benton’s only repeater from the 2007 All-District team. Coach Mitch Downey of Benton was selected “Coach of the Year” as his team completed its second season in Class 4A football with a 10-1 record. Read the full article at BossierPress.com...

Shaw ends Benton's season

Instead, 15th-seeded Archbishop Shaw put on a clinic of fundamentals as the Eagles knocked out second-seeded Benton, 20-0, in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. "You just never know what it's like from the reverse side until it happens to you," Benton defensive end Lucas Burk said. Read more...

Henderson close to parish record
Wednesday, 19 November 2008
If Benton’s Tigers become the first Bossier Parish team to play in the Louisiana Superdome next month, All-State fullback Casey Henderson will have a good chance to break the Bossier Parish career record for rushing yards. Johnny Hogan of Bossier High set the record in 1971 with a career total of 4,029 yards. Henderson holds the Benton High record of 3,756 yards, but Benton will have to survive Friday’s regional playoff game with Archbishop Shaw for Henderson to have a chance to move higher on the career list.
