Wilson named to Class 4A All-State softball team

Benton's Jeri Wilson is the area's lone first-team selection on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State baseball and softball teams. Wilson, a pitcher, made the softball team as a utility player. Wilson was 20-4 with 13 shutouts. The Lady Tigers lost 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs to eventual state runner-up Live Oak. Northwood's Colby Shands, Haughton's Sam Gullatt and Kyle Neatherly, Benton's Jamie Gilley and Parkway's Kelly Williams made honorable mention on the baseball team. Haughton's Stephanie Jaeger and Benton's Katie Ell made honorable mention on the softball team. Zachary High School's Zack Von Rosenberg and Vandebilt Catholic's Lauren Crane were named the Most Valuable Players on the baseball and softball teams, respectively.
 
Benton High receives 2 Bossier Parish Optimist Club Grants

Mathematics teachers Marvin Nelson, Jason Edwards and Wanda Farrington have received 2 Bossier Parish Optimist Club Grants. A total of 10 grants were awarded to Bossier Parish Schools. Mr. Nelson was awarded $950.10 to support “Project Autonomous Navigation”. Mr. Edwards and Mrs. Farrington were awarded $2,398.00 to integrate the TI-Navigator and SMART interactive board into their math classrooms. These teachers, along with their principals and Mr. Kruithof, will be honored at the Optimist Club Lunch on Wednesday, May 28, at 12:00 noon, at the Stone's Throw Cafe. Benton High Soccer Program 2008-2009

As most of you know Benton is putting together a Soccer Program.  We have created a BHS Soccer Booster club and fundraising has already kicked off.   We are selling Catfish Dinners provided by Cypress Inn.  Lt. Matthews has distributed tickets for students and there are some available at the office. The dinners are $8.00 and will be available on Friday, May 16th  for pick up at BHS parking lot between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Lear more and view the summer soccer schedule...
