Benton High School top gains school

BHS Earns an ‘A,’ Top Gains

Benton High School’s hard work is paying off as seen by the release of 2014-15 School Performance Scores by the Louisiana Department of Education. The Tigers posted gains in every indices, resulting in the school letter grade being raised to an ‘A’ and earning the distinction of being named a Top Gains School. Benton High Latest News


The Benton Tigers rolled to their fifth straight Division II state golf championship on Thursday.


The Tigers shot a second-round 4-over-par 292 at the Par-72 Wetlands in Lafayette to go with a first-round 294 for a two-day total of 6-over 586.


E.D. White, which shot a 296 in the second round, finished second at 600, 14 strokes behind the Tigers.


“We played well today,” Benton coach Tim Cram said. “We played better today than yesterday which is unusual with everybody being kind of tired.”


The Ceremony will be Thursday, May 5 at 6 PM at Cypress Baptist Church.  Plan to arrive by 5:30 to line up in the choir room for the processional.  The ceremony will last approximately one hour.


Dress code:  Dresses or nice pant suits are appropriate for young ladies.  Gentlemen may wear slacks, polo-type shirts, or dress shirts/ties.  NO SHORTS OR JEANS ARE ALLOWED.  Items of clothing are your choice, but the rest of the school dress code will be in effect for everything else.  NO HATS, EARRINGS ON BOYS, VISIBLE FACIAL PIERCINGS, AND SKIMPY OR REVEALING CLOTHING WILL BE ALLOWED.  SKIRTS/DRESSES NEED TO BE APPROPRIATE LENGTH.  If you come dressed inappropriately, you will be given your ring but will not participate.


Pictures will be available of you as you receive your ring.  Bring the picture envelope with your money to the ceremony.  You may give it to Mrs. France or the photographer.

Tiger Tech Robotics won 2nd Place in RARC Competition 3 and 3rd place overall for the 2015-2016 season.  The team brought home a trophy and a check for $375 to help fund the program in 2016-2017!  Great job team! Tiger Tech brought home a 3rd place trophy in the first competition of the year and competed well in all 3 events.  Teams from 8 Louisiana Parishes and 2 Arkansas counties competed in the RARC this year

Three Benton students attending Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning grabbed the gold at the 2016 State SkillsUSA competition and will soon compete at the national level. 


Earning gold medals and heading to the 2016 SkillsUSA Nationals are: Levi Glasgow, Benton, Collision;Chris Harville, Benton, Graphic Arts; Christian Mann, Benton, Introduction to Health Occupations.
