Benton High Latest News

Group photo of Rising Star honoreesFourteen Bossier Parish high school students who have shown personal growth and academic achievement were honored as Rising Stars recently by the Bossier Optimist Club.
The students were nominated by their school administration and teachers for the turning point they have made at school, whether it be with grades, attitude, behavior or the like.
This year's class of Rising Stars include: Timoune Cooper and David Young, Airline; Ardis Cole and Karshun Shepard, Benton; Cindi Amaya and Darrien Mason, Bossier High; Sherri Lane and James Prock, Butler Educational Complex; Unique Allen and Antoine Ball, Haughton High; Sha'Diamond McKnight and Ty Nelson, Parkway; and Nia'relle Scott and Giovannie Smith, Plain Dealing.

Congratulations to these Rising Stars and a big thanks to the Bossier Optimist Club for recognizing them!

Group photo of students at Student Council conventionMembers of the Student Council organizations at Airline High, Benton High, Benton Middle and Greenacres Middle returned from the Louisiana Association of Student Councils (LASC) annual convention teeming with ideas on how to make a difference both on campus and off.

Hosted by Captain Shreve High School in Caddo, Bossier students were joined at the convention by approximately 1,600 additional Student Council members from across the state. Students heard from two keynote speakers.

Jennifer Drake encouraged them to let go of any issues they thought were holding them back so they could affect change in their schools and with their fellow classmates. Kyle Willkom challenged students to embrace what is unique about them and turn that into a positive in order to become the best servant leader they can be.

The students also had the opportunity to work in small groups with other students from around the state and brainstorm on how to improve their Student Council and derive ideas of how they could serve their school and communities. Each student also participated in a service project.

The members walked away from the convention with new ideas, new friendships and a renewed excitement for Student Council.

Congratulations to  #20 Carter Parks

for being selected to the

2018 LHSCA All-Star West Soccer Team

Carter has been an impact player since he stepped on the field as a freshman and has been a big part of the team's success over the past few years.

He has started on defense, in the midfield, and striker, wherever the team needed.

This past year, despite injury, he scored 16 goals and had six assists.

He will be representing not only Benton High but also Bossier Parish in the game February 24 at 7 p.m. at the ULL Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex in Lafayette, Louisiana
